– SHACK THOUGHTS –
I’m gonna jump ahead to this April ’03 run — I’ve had some requests for gigs in this run and saw some recent chatter over on DIME about wanting shows from this run as well … and so I figure I’ll seed the shows that happened between 4/9-19/2003.
This 4/9 gig starts with a SMOKIN’ good Improv — it could very well be a tune or jam they worked out at soundcheck or something but I don’t recall hearing it again … the entire track has a patient building and structure and finds them returning to the head of the tune at the end — VERY VERY COOL! And that’s just the first track! HA! The Beeah that follows is outstanding and then the Where’s Sly that makes its way to Ten Dollar High closes out the set REAL nice!
Set II finds them all over these tunes — except Legalize It, which still rips but seems a but justifiably tentative on it’s first live performance (as far as we know; and the band will introduce another great cover a few nights later on 4/11 when they debut Afro Blue).
Sound is stellar, so if I were you I would download or listen to this show … of course …
enjoy the grooves,
