You simply can’t go wrong with one of these December ’97 gigs — when MMW play in the month of December, it is always jivin’. The opening run of Sugar Craft > Dracula > Church of Logic > Drum Solo perfectly encapsulates the band’s attack and vibe at this time. Song choice is pretty usual for the time but the band has really fleshed out the new Combustication tunes over the course of ’97. I love hearing Start/Stop develop and twist and expand, and Disrobe is criminally underplayed but this time period in the band offers us a number of versions to soak up. The beauty of No Ke Ano Ahiahi hits me every time …
