– SHACK THOUGHTS – 20 YEARS AGO TODAY
So this is an interesting gig in the wake of the groovey ’96 sound we’ve been enjoying through March ’96. On this night the band pushes into the unknown exploring open space in a way that’s a little unusual for this time period.
A heavy tribal beat bursts from illyB’s kit, with some tinkering of that rhythm messing up your expectations — wicked good! Under this we start getting some key and bowed bass rumblings … this eventually moves to Night Marchers. This is just the first of many playful unique moments — like the lead-in and outro from The Lover and how that leads us to Worms, which in turn finds a wacky journey into Macha. When Wiggly’s Way wiggles out the end of Macha, it just adds to the unique vibe … then there’s the rest of the show, or at least what we have of it … unfortunately we’re missing the end of Set 2 … but there’s still lots to dig into …
enjoy the grooves,
dug
