– SHACK THOUGHTS –
STRANCE OF THE SPIRIT RED GATOR!!! Strance was played 11/26/1996 & 11/30/2000 — but that’s it! (As far as circulating shows go) … VERY nice to see this tune pop up! I always dig hearing Mami Gato too — it’s my wife’s favourite tune.

And cool to get confirmation from Billy, from the stage, that the title of the encore tune is indeed Fuck You Guys — somebody had read that title off of a setlist from an MSMW gig a few years earlier, I think … before that we were referring to it as “Fillmore Freak”, from its MMW debut on 4/13/2007 at The Fillmore in Denver, CO (then it turned out Medeski actually debuted the tune the summer before when performing as The Itch [w/Eric Krasno and Adam Deitch] on 7/14/2006). Anyway, as a setlist freak, I like to hear the confirmation – HA! And then, the tune was released later in 2011 as part of the 20 Singles recorded and offered for download to celebrate MMW’s 20th anniversary.

Another 2nd for the ages … these guys can’t be stopped! What imaginations!

enjoy the grooves,
dug
