And the Jamaican magic continues — again, HUGE thanks to the guy who captured these shows! Too bad there weren’t more moe.rons into the MMW grooves, but again that’s a great intimate performance for those in attendance.

Not sure if I dig 1/11 more or this night’s set — both are killer! This 1/12 gig bubbles up with a nice Improv lead by Chris’ tinkering bass line during set up, and the trio doesn’t let up from there with a continuous flow of music over the next hour — yeah, I might dig this set the most … at this moment anyway. Again, a nice mix of old and newer tunes, but nothing real new. Shackman was one of the 20 singles released in 2011 (given that name on the release after going by the title After the Onsen since 2005, according to Billy’s show announcement), but that’s about the newest “song” played. Of course, we get some stellar new music in the improvisations, and that’s the real gold for me, but I would like to hear the band play some of the other new 20 singles tunes — there’s some fantastic music on that release which seems to have just fallen by the wayside, unfortunately … maybe this coming year will find the band playing those tunes.

Anyway, plenty to dig into in the videos below, couple of different angles, but the SBD audio wins for my ears. That Whiney Bitches Improv is sweet to hear, and we’ve heard the band do this before where they aren’t really playing that tune but milking its groove in a an alternate way — hear for yourself!
